I have a set of photos from the festival over on my Flickr.

In the last comic I was in Toronto, dining with Marc and Anna. Marc has since done his own comic based on his outbursts in The Keg. I think this has been the first time our comics about the same event were on our sites at the same time.

Then suddenly this week I’ve skipped nearly 2 months ahead to relaxing on the Sunday at Glastonbury waiting for Stevie Wonder to come on. I’ve made this little leap forward mostly because TCAF (the reason I was in Toronto) was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to, and such was too outstanding to cover in The Everyday. Though I’m sure Marc will probably have a strip or two about it, possibly about the panel we were both on. Anyway, since returning and heading off for Glasto either not that much happened or that Everyday part of my brain is getting weary. This is one of the reasons I feel it is a good time to end this comic, I’m just not finding my daily life as full of material for comics as I once did.

So, I have the last 3 comics planned out, I just need to draw them. And I really hope you’ll find them funny.

This Saturday I will be at the Thought Bubble comic show in Leeds, once again sharing a table with Marc Ellerby. It will be my 6th and final show of the year and I can’t wait. I will also be DJing for a whole 30 minutes at the after show party, so if you have tickets for that I want to see you dancing. As mentioned in my Thought Bubble minterview (that I foolishly forgot to blog about at the time) as well as all 3 Everyday Collections, I will have some new things for sale.

First up is the Glastonbury Postcard Book which I am very excited about. The book features 10 postcards including all 6 colour Glastonbury strips (which start here), 2 previously seen comics in colour for the first time, one exclusive unseen comic about the Saturday at Glastonbury and a card of sketches that I made when trying to capture likenesses of certain famous people.

This will be limited to 100 hand numbered copies, only 40 of which I’ll be bringing to the show. I’ll be selling these for a tidy £5 so come by early on and pick one up.

More new things tomorrow!

Finally, I’ve reached the end of the Glastonbury comics. Not helped by a two week delay due to lots of freelance work. Those with a good memory may recall I said they’d be two more Glasto strips, so where did the other one go? I do have a strip in mind about the Saturday at the festival but I felt it didn’t really fit in with The Everyday on its own. So instead it will be an extra for the Glastonbury ’09 Comic Postcard book I’ll be putting together soon, to be released at an upcoming show.

Check the blog below for news about what’s been happening while I’ve been absent and get ready for some black and white Everyday next Monday.

My aim for these Glastonbury comics was to try and capture a bit of the feeling of the festival, what it is like to live in this city of tents for 5 days and witness the weirdness and the wonder of the place, while also keeping true to the everyday nature of my comics. However when an event like the death of arguably the most famous person alive occurs, I felt I had to write about it. The news didn’t really overshadow any of the rest of the festival, but for that Thursday night after a drunk and joyful day I couldn’t contain my thoughts and feelings about it and ranted on for hours to my poor, poor friends.

I considered writing a sentence or two in the last panel, to try and sum up how Michael Jackson was the coolest person in the world to any kid when I was young, how the Bad album on vinyl was one of my most treasured possessions or how I can’t remember liking any musical artist or band before him. But it all felt pithy in a way, there’s nothing I could say that would be any kind of epitaph for the man, for his limitless talent and his troubled life. So I hoped that a simple picture of me doing my MJ dance moves would say at least something, and might even raise a smile in memory.

Kate Beaton linked to a comic by Sally Bloodbath that embellishes a similar memory and I really, really enjoyed it. She is perhaps a couple of years younger than me so it is the Dangerous album that meant as much to her as Bad did to me, and as Thriller did to the kids older than me.

And if any other comic artist have drawn themselves busting out a moonwalk I’d like to see it.

Colour? In The Everyday? What’s the big idea, Cadwell? The big idea is that I’m going to make a nifty little mini-comic of Glastonbury themed Everydays in full colour (in the Collections they’ll remain black and white). There’s a good few more on the way so if the very thought of The Everyday in colour sickens you to your very core, then please look away for about 2 weeks. I’m just trying this out for now, I might recolour it once the other strips are drawn, I might abandon the idea completely and replace it with the black and white version like it never existed. Who knows? But for now, for you regular readers, here in the here and now, along for the ride, livin’ the dream, Glastonbury Everydays are in full-on colour.

Please let me know what you think, unless you can’t think anymore because I blew your mind.

Also, this marks the first appearance of my little sister. Hello tiny drawing of Jolene!

Also also, the couple in the last panel are the Adam and Freya mentioned earlier, and yes, I have a cow patterned pop-up tent.
