The Everyday #200!

I think, and correct me if I’m wrong here, that this is the first time I’ve mentioned Vimto* (my all time favourite drink) in The Everyday. I guess I couldn’t let the comic end without getting it in there. Vimto, I love you.

Well, we’re finally here, folks! Comic number 200. The End. Did it end like you thought it would? With a huge drawing of my face?

It might have taken me nearly 4 years to get here, and during the last 50 strips it seemed to take forever but I guess I did it and I’d like to thank each and every one of you who have read my comic. I’m well aware in the world of webcomics mine is little known with a modest readership but that has always been fine with me. I never started doing this to make a living off t-shirt sales or have famous guest artists, I did it because I wanted to get better at drawing comics, and looking back at the first few I like to think that I can safely say that I’ve learnt a lot. I’m trying to avoid sounding like I’ve won an award or something but I do want to thank everyone who has let me draw them in this comic, anyone who’s ever linked to me and every single person who has left a comment. You all made it a lot easier to keep making comics of my life for all this time.

See below for lots of alternate endings by readers and comic artist friends and a little later in the day there’ll be a longer blog post about the future of The Everyday in print and what comic I’ll be working on after this, i.e Blood Blokes.

*If you’re thinking “What’s Vimto!?!”, and if you’re from anywhere other than Northern England you probably are, then there’s more info on it’s Wiki page.

The End: Part 4

Today the real The Everyday #200 went up on the site and to celebrate here’s even more alternate endings and drawings from my comic artist boyfriend, my comic artist girlfriend and my comic artist friends. There’ll be a bumper sized blog post later today with more endings from loads of my awesome, awesome readers, so check back for that.

Marc Ellerby:

I bloody LOVE this! I laughed my head off at the note! I was thinking of actually ending the comic with something to do with me and Kayla moving in together but it felt like I’d be stretching things out on purpose, so I’m glad Marc worked it into his. I love that man.

Marc’s copied me and he’s ending his comic soon. If you don’t already, go and and read Ellerbisms while you still can.

Kayla Hillier:

Kayla is perhaps the only person who could base her ending on something that actually happened to me, and so she did. Instead of a fantastical ending she records a moment of me driving her mad in an episode of Ikea-caused confusion. This is also the first time she has ever drawn me, but be prepared for a lot more of me in her travel diary comic Galavant.

Lizz Lunney:

Haha! I’d kill for a Little Adam Pez! Little Lizz Lunney knows that I’m a fan of Pez, Vimto and my own face so this may be the perfect gift for me.

Joe Decie:

Joe also knows I love the Vimto. I’d always loved the deadpan, down to earth observation of Joe’s comics and so I thought his rendering of the Chinese Vimto factory was hilarious in it’s dullness. Thanks Joe. If there’s any webcomic you should be reading now mine has ended, it’s Joe’s.

John Cei Douglas:

If John came to my party with a Moomin I’d be out of there like a shot. John drew a comic himself once you know. It was about Buffaloes or something. Anyway it was pretty good. Let’s all bug him to do more, eh?

Bonus: Andrew ’2hands’ Tunney (again):

Andy sent me the black and white version of this a week ago and I posted it in The End: Part 2, but he’s since coloured it in wonderful Mignola style and I needed to share it here. Thanks Tuntun!

It’s not too late to send your endings in! I’ll be posting a huge post later today of all the other comics and drawings I’ve received and I may even do one next week if I get any later entries. So, send your comics to adam(at)adamcadwell.com, in black and white or colour as a 600 pixels wide jpeg at 72 pixels/inch.

The End: Part 3

It’s time for more alternate endings to The Everyday! Here are 5 more, mostly Kayla centric comics:

Thorsten Sideboard:

Not only is this guy called Thor (!) but he sends me this awesome sci-fi twist ending that makes total sense. Kayla has been getting some funny looks from me since I read this. Canadian she says, yeah right!

Robin Henley:

Poor Little Adam, poor dead Little Adam. Thanks for this one Robin, it made Kayla shriek with the giggles.

Can Yalcinkaya:

Can kindly sends this comic all the way from Australia. It may be the most plausible, playfully meta ending that’s been sent in. It’s also very sweet and there’s something very Bash Street Kids about my face in panel 4 that I really like.

John Gardener:

Oh no Kayla has dumped me! But wait it was all a dream. Well, someone had to do the classic dream ending. I’m also amused that John thinks I have huge posters of my own drawings on my wall.

John Stansfield:

And because I said I’d post all the entries that I got, and he kind of dared me, lastly we have this from my “friend” John Stansfield who, believe it or not, is actually a very talented comedy writer. I’m so sorry, Mum.

If you’d like to send me your own vision of how The Everyday should end, please send me one before the deadline which is currently August 12th. I hope to post as many as I can on Thursday when I post the real Everyday #200! Whoop! Yeah! Etc!

Send your comics to adam(at)adamcadwell.com, in black and white or colour as a 600 pixels wide jpeg at 72 pixels/inch.

The End: Part 2

I am truly surprised by the amount of alternate endings I’ve got in just a week. In fact I’m stunned, thanks to everyone who’s sent me one so far. Here are 5 more alternate The Everyday #200s! 5 more on Monday!

Joe List:

I WISH I was drawing a new comic called King of Space! Also, I love my blue hair and glasses. If you don’t know Joe’s work, then go and get to know it, buy it a drink, invite it to the cinema next Wednesday, I’m positive you’ll have some great times together.

Andrew ’2hands’ Tunney:

Some may know him as 2hands for his ability to draw with both hands at once, others may know him as Tunney or just Andy. I just know him as the guy I’ve been gently bugging to draw his awesome comic ideas for years now so I’m extra glad he sent me this. Also sometimes I call him Tuntun. Oh, and that’s the rubble of Manchester city center by the way.

Tuntun’s been in The Everyday a few times too and he also does a pop culture podcast with a friend of his who is an American man

Chris Madden:

(Click for a bigger image)

Chris Madden needs no introduction to long time readers. My “long suffering” ex-housemate kindly spent the time to create this comic for me. Though he’s no longer in the comic (or my life, sniff) because he’s up in Edinburgh “working” it’s really nice to have him included at the end of the comic as he was, for a while there, my co-star. Madden’s many appearances start here.

Pedro Martin:

Hotwell explodes!!! This entry from reader Pedro Martin amused me, there hasn’t been enough explosions in The Everyday and Pedro sets things right, just in the nick of time. He’s also just started drawing his own autobio comic, Unremarkable Routine, and I think he’s off to a great start.

Howard Hardiman:

This may be a little odd out of context, but this great pin up by Howard ‘Handsome’ Hardiman is in reference to The Everyday #162. I don’t know if it’s because of The Terminator reference but I’m flattered that I’ve been drawn so buff. I’m so not buff. Check out Howard’s melancholic comics about lonely badgers and city-livin’ dinosaurs.

Send me your own ending to The Everyday and make me feel all warm inside. The deadline is currently August 12th. Send your comics to adam(at)adamcadwell.com, in black and white or colour as a 600 pixels wide jpeg at 72 pixels/inch.
