Rules panels works well - if you look at the Krazy Kat strips (Herriman) it's almost like having nice sharp clean boxes freed him up to go mental within them. Not that you should go mental. I was quite happy with the road on this one :) I use Faber-Castell artist PITT pens. I usually just use the brush pen.
